There are a lot of good places in San Diego for fans of all sorts of night life.

Beer

San Diego has a thriving beer culture. There are at least 23 breweries at 31 locations. There's also a good group of local brewers if you home-brew. Home brewing is pretty easy to get started, and we have a shop in town which can get you everything you need.

Pizza Port

135 N Highway 101, Solana Beach, CA

Very good pizza and home beer. One of three Pizza Port locations and the closest to La Jolla.

Pizza Port

571 Carlsbad Village Dr, Carlsbad, CA

Farther Pizza Port. They have a bottle shop next door which sells lots of single bottles of around 750 different beers.

Pizza Port

301 N El Camino Real, San Clemente, CA

Farthest Pizza Port

Karl Strauss

1044 Wall St # C, La Jolla, CA 92037-4437

In downtown La Jolla. Good burgers and lots of Karl Strauss Beer on taps.

Karl Strauss

1157 Columbia St, San Diego, CA 92101-3511

Downtown Karl Strauss

Karl Strauss

5801 Armada Dr, Carlsbad, CA 92008-4609

Farthest Karl Strauss

Rock Bottom

8980 Villa La Jolla Dr, La Jolla, CA

Just at the bottom of the hill by campus, the closest nice place for dinner. They also have a bar area with three pool tables.

Rock Bottom

401 G St, San Diego, CA

Each of the Rock Bottoms has a different brewmaster, so they'll all make different beer. Try this one out even if you've been to the La Jolla location

B.J.'s

8873 Villa La Jolla Dr, La Jolla, CA

Just up the road from the La Jolla Rock Bottom, BJs offers a tasty alternative with some of their local beer. They don't participate much in the local brew scene, so their brew-pubs are the only place to find their beer.

Calahans

111 Mira Mesa Blvd, San Diego, CA

Kind of a dive bar that makes their own beer. They also have a full restaurant. QUAFF holds their regular meetings here.

Beer Bars

If you're not up for a proper meal and just want bar food or some drinks, there are plenty of good local bars with good beer selection.

Specials

O'Brien's

4646 Convoy St # 117, San Diego, CA‎

Located in a predominantly Asian neighborhood, this a good place for some American food. Their garlic fries are amazing. Lots of rotating taps from anywhere. They also have to-go bottles from their large selection. Just beer (and some wine), no liquor.

Monday night discounted drinks and pitchers.

Toronado

4026 30th St, San Diego, CA

Not Coronado. A better version of the one in San Francisco. Lots of rotating taps of microbreweries from across the country. They're slowly increasing their food offerings as well (the lamb sausages are tasty --jcm). Just beer (and some wine), no liquor.

Monday $3 pints from 5pm until closing. Weekdays $4 pints until 5pm

Hamilton's Tavern

1521 30th St, San Diego, CA

A bit harder to find in South Park. They have an attached Cafe which will bring food over to the bar area, but I'm not a huge fan of the food. This is the best place for local breweries. They have a lot of taps and usually feature one of the local breweries each week. They also have two pool tables and shuffleboard. Just beer, no liquor.

Tap Room

1269 Garnet ave, San Diego, CA

In the heart of Pacific Beach, when all your friends are going to the Frat-Bars, you can chill here with some good beer. They have some liquor for your non-beer-loving friends.

Pitchers.
