Applied Physics and Mathematics Building
AP&M was the home of the CSE department for several years, until 2005. It was originally designed by architects Mosher & Drew and built in 1969. The building features a waffle-like architecture and exposed concrete with a wood-grain texture (from the rough forms used; this feature was meant to unify the natural wood of the Muir campus with the modernness of the building).
CSE occupied the second, third, fourth, fifth, and sixth floors of AP&M. The Department of Mathematics occupied the seventh floor, and shared the second and sixth floors with CSE. The second floor and basement was used for classroom and undergraduate laboratory space, and the first floor houses Academic Computing Services and the Office of Network Operations. The east wing of the building consists mainly of offices, while the west wing is used primarily for laboratory space. On some floors, there's also a northern wing across a bridge; this area is commonly referred to as AP&M-Prime and has both labs and offices. The building is fairly old and castle-like.
2005 was the last year where the department was in this building. The majority of CSE moved into EBU3b in July 2005, with the last stragglers arriving in October and November.
The Linguistics department is moving into AP&M and Math department is spreading out.
